Dr. Steven Horwitz, Silver Spring, Maryland and Georgetown chiropractor, was selected by Washingtonian magazine as a top expert in sports medicine. Dr. Horwitz was one of only two chiropractors selected in Maryland and the only chiropractor selected in the District of Columbia.
Dr. Horwitz has been practicing in the Washington metropolitan area for over 20 years and has treated athletes of all abilities, from professional and Olympic athletes, to weekend warrior, to high school and middle school athletes. "My first love is injury prevention. The highest expression of what I do is to prevent the injuries I typically treat."
Dr. Horwitz teaches a state mandated course for the Montgomery County Public School system called Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries. All public high school coaches are required to take this course. In addition, Dr. Horwitz is the Sports Performance Director of the Grassroots Youth Football League.
"What makes our practice unique is the understanding of sports injury diagnosis and care, sports injury prevention, and sports performance training. They are really all one in the same. Whether we are rehabbing an injury, performing an injury prevention program, like our ACL Injury Prevention and Rotator Cuff Injury Prevention programs, or training an athlete for peformance, proper exercise is proper exercise."
"We use the Functional Movement Screen as a baseline for all our patients, either after they have recovered from an injury or are simply training for sports. Our patients love the results."
